Basotect®
Basotect - Foam made from melamine resin.
Basotect is a flexible, open cell foam made from melamine resin, a thermoset plastic from the amino-plastics group. It's characteristic feature is it's delicate three-dimensional filigree network structure formed from slender and hence readily thermoformable filaments.
Construction and Industry
Its high sound absorption capacity and safe fire characteristics (Classification B1 Flame-retardent in accordance with DIN 4102, without addition of flameproofing agent) favor Basotect for these areas of application. Decoratively designed acoustic plates, suspended baffles and metal panel ceilings backed with Basotect considerably and measurably improve acoustics.
Work areas exposed to high levels of nose pollution (heavy mechanical endineering and metalworking plants, etc.) can be restored to acoustic tolerability by retrofiting lightwieght baffle absorbers. The low instrinsic weight of Basotect baffles allows simple methods of attachment, eg. by the means of cable structures, so new static layouts are often not required.
Acoustically effective, lightwieght sandwich elements in the form of partition walls and room dividers are made form combinations of Basotect with gysum plasterboard, chipboard or plywood board and metal or plastic covering layers.
Basotect affords a broad range of attrative properties. It's outstanding qualitative features are:
- HIGH SOUND ABSORPTION CAPACITY
- GOOD THERMAL INSULATION PROPERTIES
- FLAME RESISTANCE
- HEAT RESISTANCE
- LOW WEIGHT
